Companionship & practical support for elderly people
The steady, everyday support that keeps life feeling like life.
Company for a cup of tea, help with the shopping, a lift to an appointment, or a familiar face waiting at the hospital door — non-clinical support, arranged around your family, not the other way round.
What we do

Companionship
Regular, familiar visits for conversation, a shared cup of tea, or simply company — the kind of ordinary time that makes a real difference to someone's week.

How it works
Three straightforward steps
Get in touch
Call us or send a short enquiry. Tell us a little about the situation — there's no obligation and no pressure.
We talk it through
We'll ask about what support would actually help, and agree a plan together with you and, where possible, the person receiving support.
Support begins
A familiar, DBS-checked support worker starts visiting on the schedule you've agreed. You can adjust it at any time as needs change.
FAQ
Questions families ask us
What does "non-clinical" support actually mean?
It means companionship and practical help — conversation, errands, transport, hospital discharge support — with no personal or physical care such as washing, dressing, or medication administration. If your family needs that kind of regulated personal care, we can talk through what we don't cover so you know what else to arrange.
How much does support cost?
We publish guide hourly rates for every kind of support on our pricing page, with a 2-hour minimum per visit and different rates for London and the rest of England & Wales. Get in touch with a rough idea of what you're looking for and we'll confirm the exact figure before anything is agreed.
Are your staff checked and insured?
Yes. Every support worker is DBS-checked before they visit anyone, and Goodfellow Support Services is a registered UK company operating with full insurance.
How quickly can support start?
It depends on availability in your area and the kind of support needed, but we move quickly wherever we can — especially for hospital discharge support, where timing matters. Call us and we'll be straight with you about timescales.
Where do you provide support?
We currently support families across England and Wales. Get in touch and we'll confirm straight away whether we cover your area.
Can we change the schedule once support has started?
Yes. Life doesn't stay the same week to week, and neither should the support plan. Let us know what's changed and we'll adjust visits with you.
Do you only work with private-paying families, or also through referrals?
We're confirming the full detail of our referral pathways — please ask when you get in touch and we'll give you a straight answer for your situation.
What if my parent is unsure about having someone new visit?
That's completely normal, and we go at their pace. We'll talk it through with both of you beforehand, and the same familiar support worker visits each time so it doesn't feel like a stream of strangers.
